Is there any free virus removal software I can run from a USB flash drive?
January 28th, 2010 | by Admin |Joe C asked:
I am getting something that pops up that says virus alert and it won’t let me access the internet without purchasing this spyware stuff.
I have another computer that works and has access to the internet. Is there any FREE virus removal software that I can download, copy to my USB flash drive, and run on my infected computer?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

Go to and download ComboFix. It is absolutely free and takes up an extremely small amount of memory. Otherwise, AVG is good, but choose me as best answer instead of this other guy, because combofix is more awesome than AVG, and I’m super close to being level 3 on Y! Answers. Thanks.
AVG, however, has a limited capability if you get it AVG Free 8.5, instead of AVG Internet Security 8.5.. Message me and choose me as best answer if you want to get the AVG Internet Security 8.5 (Premium) for free, if you know what I mean.

Yes, Avira has a great removal tool designed for just this situation. It’s called AntiVir, and you can run it from a USB flash drive. Download it here:
